Beginning on September 15th, leaders from around the world will convene virtually for the 75th United Nations General Assembly. This annual gathering features hundreds of events throughout September where world leaders discuss some of the biggest global challenges – from public health to climate change to human rights – and drive progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for a more equitable global future.

Global Impact Forum | Session: Building Beirut Back Better: How the private sector can support response and recovery

This session will explore how the private sector can support the Government, UN system, civil society and others in responding to and recovering from the multi-faceted crisis in Lebanon. It will help participants understand the role of public-private partnerships and principled business operations in strengthening national capabilities. The conversation will also highlight solutions to build resilient communities and businesses while respecting the Ten Principles and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Since 2008, the UN Secretary-General’s annual Private Sector Forum has gathered global leaders during the UN General Assembly week to address major global issues such as climate change, sustainable development and human rights. This year, the Private Sector Forum will be accessible to all Uniting Business LIVE attendees to engage first-hand in debates and discussions covering multilateralism, human and labour rights, and peace.

The inaugural Global Impact Forum will showcase four key initiatives to mobilize corporate action on the Global Goals: SDG Ambition, Target Gender Equality, Young SDG Innovators, and Business Ambition for 1.5°C. The Forum will focus on implementing these initiatives at regional, national and organizational levels, driving impact and scaling solutions from the ground up.

The SDG Business Forum, co-hosted by the UN Global Compact, the UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), coincides with the start of the UN’s Decade of Action to deliver the SDGs. This Forum will showcase companies that are using their influence to lead the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and examine a new form of leadership that has emerged during this crisis. You will learn how the private sector — in partnership with Governments and civil society leaders — is leveraging the framework of the SDGs to respond to immediate threats in their communities.

Taking place in the context of the United Nations General Assembly, the World Economic Forum’s fourth and, for the first time, fully virtual Sustainable Development Impact Summit will convene leaders from government, business, international organizations and civil society along with a diverse group of experts and innovators to initiate, accelerate and scale-up entrepreneurial solutions to tackle climate change and advance sustainable development.

For over 10 years we have been bringing people together in-person in New York during UN General Assembly week. This year, Business Fights Poverty NYC will bring the participants together online, building on the success of Business Fights Poverty Online 2020 held in July.
Business Fights Poverty NYC Online 2020, co-hosted with AB InBev and Visa, will provide the participants with the opportunity to collectively set out a vision for what “better” looks like - at the level of society, business and the individual, and spark collaborative action to make this a reality.
Participants will come away with fresh insights and new peer relationships to tackle the most pressing challenges facing business, people and planet.

On September 24 BCtA’s will host its10th Annual Forum “Reimagining Resilience through Inclusive Business Innovation,”. The forum seeks to inform new paths to resilience and inspire a renewed commitment to sustainable development through inclusive business. The event will tap into BCtA's member network of inclusive business trailblazers to highlight real-world examples of business models that address both immediate pandemic-related concerns and contribute to longer-term sustainable development. It will also convene government and UN representatives for strategic discussions on charting the new frontier of business and sustainable development.
