Less than one percent of humanitarian aid is focused on innovation and ways to improve the delivery of aid services. But with the humanitarian ecosystem expanding to include non-traditional actors like the private sector, there is potential for learning and cross-fertilization. The humanitarian sector and the private sector alike can benefit from the application of innovation in reducing risk and applying them in the context of disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

The Connecting Business Initiative will be hosting a webinar focusing on Innovation in Disaster and Information Management that will explore these applications and their practical benefits to the private sector and the humanitarian community as a whole.

Join the discussion on 11 December 2018, 1:00 2:30 PM (Central European Time); this online event will aim to:

  • Explore the applications of innovation on disaster and information management through presentations from national and international actors
  • Discuss how these innovations can be used by the private sector entities and networks

Presentations will be provided by: Sanny Jegillos, Regional Team Leader on DRR, UNDP Asia Pacific, and Sarah Telford, Lead for the Centre for Humanitarian Data, OCHA (global innovation); Arvin Caro, Geo-Hazard and Spatial Information Manager, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (local innovation).
