East Africa Humanitarian Private Sector Partnership Platform - Newsletter March 2019

Wairimu Kibui • 14 March 2019

Welcome to the first newsletter of CBi Member Network in East Africa for 2019. The year has started full of promise for the East Africa Humanitarian Private Sector Partnership Platform (HPPP). Today, more than any other time in our existence we face increased challenges and opportunities for collaboration. Shared value as a concept is gaining traction across the world, making the work that HPPP is doing even more relevant.

The network and its membership are excited by a recent commitment to register HPPP as a Limited company by guarantee, as it sets the platform on the path to long term sustainability grounded on long term learning and impact for people and communities affected by humanitarian disasters, whether man-made or natural.

This year, the network has planned a number of activities that will keep its member companies engaged. One such engagement is the roll-out of the Connecting Business initiative's toolkit on manmade disasters including complex emergencies that was co-developed with three pilot countries, including Kenya, and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) thanks to the generous support of the European Union.

Over the next couple of months, the Kenyan network will reach out to its partners and stakeholders to provide insights and gather feedback, to make the toolkit truly practical for the East Africa context.
