Private sector engagement in complex emergencies: case studies from Yemen and Southern Somalia

Connecting Business initiative Secretariat • 27 February 2018

This study explores how the local private sector has responded to the crises in Yemen and Somalia, and the opportunities for, and obstacles to, private sector engagement with the humanitarian sector in such contexts. The study offers several correctives to existing assumptions about the scope and scale of potential private sector involvement in situations of conflict and identifies potential opportunities for cooperation between the business and humanitarian communities in order to better address the needs of affected communities.
