Our Work

Vanautu communities receive private sector donations after Tropical Cyclone Harold in April 2020
Our Work

The Connecting Business initiative (CBi) works with local private sector networks. We are directly supporting Member Networks that are national focal points for private sector engagement in disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery (see list below). CBi Member Networks represent more than 4,000 companies and reach over 40,000 micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). In collaboration with the development and humanitarian community, we are also actively engaging with other business networks around the world in different private sector-related disaster risk reduction and management, and crisis coordination initiatives.

CBi provides technical and coordination support during crises. Check our emergency pages to see how we work with private sector networks during disasters.

Outside of emergency situations, we support capacity-building as well as disaster preparedness and recovery programmes.

Are you a business federation or private sector network interested in partnering with us? A company looking to engage in crisis response? Email us at connectingbusiness[at]un.org
